Eleven years after the sensational success of Premam, Nivin Pauly's much-anticipated reunion with director Alphonse Puthren is finally set to materialise. The project, tentatively titled NP 50, will be launched on June 27 in a formal event held at Padma Theatre, Kochi.
Nivin and Alphonse, whose bond goes way back to their teenage days, first collaborated professionally on the romantic music video 'Nenjodu Cherthu'. Alphonse's directorial debut Neram also starred Nivin in the lead. Talks about their reunion have been surfacing ever since the debacle of the director's last film Gold, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Nivin recently wrapped up the shooting of Girish AD's Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, scheduled for Onam release this year. His long-pending Dear Students, co-starring Nayanthara, is expected to hit screens later this year. Nivin is also working on the Tamil film Benz, headlined by Raghava Lawrence.
After the release of Gold in 2022, Alphonse Puthren had announced a film titled Gift, which was supposed to feature Sandy Master in the lead and Ilaiyaraaja as the composer. However, the project was dropped in the initial stages itself.
