The 4K Malayalam version of Allu Arjun's Happy was rereleased in Kerala on June 11. The film, which was a massive success upon its original release in 2006, continues to enjoy a dedicated fanbase in the state. Recent videos circulating on social media show fans reliving the experience in theatres, with many dancing in front of the big screen.
Actor Anaswara Rajan was among them, joining in the celebrations with her sister Aiswarya Rajan and friends. Sharing a video from the theatre, the actor's sister captioned it, "Childhood jukebox in theatres," a nod to Yuvan Shankar Raja's immensely popular soundtrack, which was a rage in Kerala during its initial run.
Directed by A. Karunakaran, Happy was among the first films that helped cement Allu Arjun's massive popularity in Kerala. Dubbed and released in Malayalam as Happy Be Happy, it emerged as a blockbuster, reportedly running for over 175 days in theatres. Khader Hassan of Rathak Arts, who played a key role in introducing Allu Arjun to Malayali audiences, has brought the film back to theatres nearly two decades later.
Meanwhile, Anaswara Rajan is also looking to establish herself in Telugu cinema with a string of projects. She made her Tollywood debut last year with Champion, headlined by Roshan Meka. She is also part of Itlu Arjuna and an upcoming Chiranjeevi-starrer directed by Bobby Kolli, best known for Daaku Maharaaj.
