Joemon Jyothir, best known for his roles in Romancham and Vaazha, has replaced Prithviraj Sukumaran as the lead actor in Santhosh Trophy. Directed by Vipin Das, the film was first announced in August 2024 and went on floors in September 2025. However, the shoot was delayed due to Prithviraj's other commitments, which reportedly led to the actor's replacement. Prithviraj, who was also one of the film's producers, has opted out, with Listin Stephen now handling the production alone. The makers announced Joemon's joining with a first look poster featuring him.
Joemon has earlier worked under Vipin's direction in Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil, besides collaborating in his productions like the Vaazha franchise and Vyasanasametham Bandhumithradhikal. Joemon made his debut as a lead actor earlier this year with Aashan, also starring Indrans.
Meanwhile, the second schedule of Santhosh Trophy commenced on Friday. Around 60 newcomers, selected through auditions, are also part of the film's cast. Cinematographer Aravind Puthussery, music director Ankit Menon, and editor Johnkutty comprise the core technical team.
Prithviraj will be next seen in Nisam Basheer's i, Nobody. He is also simultaneously working on Vysakh's Khalifa and the SS Rajamouli biggie Varanasi.
