June 01 marked Marilyn Monroe's 100th birth anniversary. Among the many Monroe remembrance posts, one particular message from actor Manoj K Jayan grabbed the attention of netizens. Sharing a photograph featuring him with the so-called 'The Blonde Bombshell,' Manoj revealed that he chanced upon a lookalike of the yesteryear actor at a Universal Studios location in the USA. "Even though it is a dupe, I took a photograph with her. Let it be a dupe," Manoj wrote with his customary humour.
The actor revealed that he did not find a more perfect day to share his photograph with Monroe than June 01, Monday. Describing her as 'great,' 'iconic,' and 'legendary,' Manoj shared his thoughts on the actor's legacy.
"A century after her birth, Marilyn Monroe remains an alluring enigma. The actress, model, and singer is ingrained in American iconography," Manoj wrote.
Monroe made her debut with a small role in 1947's Dangerous Years. She went on to star in some classic films, notably All About Eve (1950), Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953), The Seven Year Itch (1955), and Some Like It Hot (1959). Gentlemen Prefer Blondes made Monroe a style icon and fashion sensation, playing a part in cementing her 'blonde bombshell' image. However, many regard Monroe's performance in Billy Wilder's 1959 comedy as the best in her career. Despite her acclaimed performance in Some Like It Hot, she did not receive an Academy Award nomination for it. It is regarded as one of the biggest Oscar snubs of all time.
However, Monroe is not without recognition for her acting. For example, rranks at sixth in AFI's 25 greatest-ever female stars list, below Greta Garbo, Ingrid Bergman, Audrey Hepburn, Bette Davis, and Katharine Hepburn.
