Moving ahead with their plans for the Onam release, the makers of Bethlehem Kudumba Unit have announced August 21 as the film's release date. The announcement was made with a new poster featuring the two leads, Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju. The film will be locking horns with Prithviraj Sukumaran's Khalifa and Dulquer Salmaan's I'm Game, both of which are confirmed to hit screens a day ahead on August 20. With three A-lister films releasing around the same time, the stage is set for a mouthwatering clash at the Kerala box office.
Bethlehem Kudumba Unit comes from director Girish AD and his co-writer Kiran Josey, who last collaborated on Premalu. It also marks their reunion with their Premalu producers Bhavana Studios, headed by Fahadh Faasil, Syam Pushkaran and Dileesh Pothan. Cinematographer Ajmal Sabu, music director Vishnu Vijay and editor Akash Joseph Varghese, all of whom were part of Premalu, also return.
Billed as a light-hearted rom-com, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit explores the romantic relationship between a man and a woman with a significant age gap between them. This marks Nivin and Mamitha's first outing together. Others in the cast include Vinay Forrt, Sangeeth Prathap, Suresh Krishna, Bindu Panicker, Roshan Shanavas, Shyam Mohan, Shameer Khan, Srindaa, Parvathy Ayyappadas, and Meenakshi Raveendran.
Mamitha Baiju also has the Tamil film Vishwanath and Sons, in which she is paired opposite Suriya, slated for release on August 14. Her other upcoming Tamil projects include Vijay's Jana Nayagan, Irandu Vaanam with the Ratchasan duo of director Ram Kumar and actor Vishnu Vishaal, and her Dude co-star Pradeep Ranganathan's maiden production, also starring Ashwath Marimuthu and Swasika. In Malayalam, she is working on a rom-com alongside Sangeeth Prathap.
Nivin Pauly's forthcoming slate includes Vijayam with Alphonse Puthren, Dear Students, the Tamil films Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai, Benz, and a couple of projects with Panorama Studios.
