Mahesh Narayanan's Patriot, a multistarrer headlined by Mammootty and Mohanlal, the industry's two titans, is easily among the most hyped films of the year. Also starring Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Revathi, and Darshana Rajendran, the film is slated for release on April 23. The director, who had been silent about the film, shared a bit about it during a recent talk session as part of the Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters 2026.
Answering a query if Patriot, with such a stellar star cast, will have enough high moments for the fans, Mahesh said, "It's a commercial ride, with lots of surprises. The film is political, but also has its share of moments for the fans to celebrate. Mammookka and Lal sir shot together for around ten days, and we still cherish it." The director also added that he first thought of Mammootty while scripting, with others coming into the picture later.
Patriot is produced by Anto Joseph, with CR Salim and Subhash Manuel serving as co-producers. Its technical crew includes cinematographer Manush Nandan and music director Sushin Shyam, with Mahesh also handling the cuts alongside Rahul Radhakrishnan.
