Jayaram and his son Kalidas are reuniting on screen with Ashakal Aayiram, which is scheduled for release on February 6. The makers released the film’s trailer recently, from which it appears to be a relatable father-son relationship drama.
Kalidas plays a youngster nurturing dreams of becoming an actor, while his father, played by Jayaram, seems to be a middle-class common man, more concerned with the everyday realities. The conflict between these two men with opposing views on life, dreams, and reality seems to be the film's crux. The cast also includes Asha Sarath, Ishaani Krishna, Ramesh Pisharody and Akhil NRD. Sharaf U Dheen also appears in the trailer as film star, Sumith.
Ashakal Aayiram is directed by G Prajith, best known for helming Oru Vadakkan Selfie. It is jointly scripted by Jude Anthany Joseph and Aravind Rajendran, with Jude also serving as the creative director. The technical team includes cinematographer Swaroop Philip, editor Shafeeque V B, and composer Sanal Dev. It is produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner of Sree Gokulam Movies.
Ashakal Aayiram is Jayaram and Kalidas's fourth film outing together after Sathyan Anthikad’s Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal, Sibi Malayil’s Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum, and the Tamil anthology Putham Pudhu Kaalai.
