Sarvam Maya, Nivin Pauly-Riya Shibu film, earns over 125 crore worldwide
Director Akhil Sathyan's film Sarvam Maya, starring Nivin Pauly, Riya Shibu, and Aju Varghese, continues its dream run at the box office, even amid new releases. Firefly Films, which produced it alongside Akhil Sathyan Films, announced earlier today that it has grossed over 125 crore from theatres worldwide. On January 10, the third Saturday since the film's release, it grossed 2.7 crore from theatres in India, according to Sacnilk data. In India alone, the film has minted around 63 crore, reports the industry tracker.
Reportedly, it has turned into the highest-grossing film in Nivin Pauly's career. While his films such as Premam, Kayamkulam Kochunni, Bangalore Days, and Varshangalkku Shesham, among others, are also considered hits, Sarvam Maya is reportedly the first Nivin Pauly starrer to cross the 100-crore mark at the global box office. It has also ended a recent string of commercial failures for Nivin, especially with regard to films where he plays the main lead, something which is humorously referred to in the multistarrer Varshangalkku Shesham.
The film tells the story of a youngster (Nivin) who aspires to become a popular guitarist one day but whose circumstances force into becoming a priest. However, a ghost (Riya Shibu) enters the young man's life after an exorcism session, making things complicated for him and those around him. Sarvam Maya also stars Preity Mukhundhan, Janardhanan, Raghunath Paleri, Madhu Wariar, Srikant Murali, and Vijilesh Karayad. Priya Prakash Varrier and Nivin's Neram and Premam director Alphonse Puthren also appear in cameo roles.
After Sarvam Maya, Nivin Pauly's upcoming films include Dear Students co-starring Nayanthara, Benz with Raghava Lawrence, Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai directed by Ram, and Bethlehem Kudumba Unit with Premalu director Girish AD. Panorama Studios has also entered a multi-film deal with Nivin.
