After Toxic director Geetu Mohandas, it is Rajisha Vijayan's turn to face the wrath of unforgiving netizens after the release of her special number from Krishand's upcoming film Masthishka Maranam. In an old interview with Radio Mirchi, Rajisha said that she would not be part of an "item dance" number because of its female objectification. At the time, she said, "I do not like to be part of anything that objectifies the human body." The actor also criticised the camera angles, the lyrics, and the dance moves in such songs. However, netizens are calling her out for her 'hypocrisy', now that the actor herself is part of such a song.
At a recent event, Rajisha Vijayan said that she has attempted something she has never done before in Masthishka Maranam. "I really hope it works out. Its English title is a little more interesting: A Frankenbiting of Simon's Memories. The titles of Krishand's films are always very unique," she said. The actor also urged the audience to check out her song.
Speaking of which, the song, titled 'Komala Thaamara', has Malayalam lyrics by Anil Lal and Tamil lyrics by Andre as well as vocals by Pranavam Sasi, Gowtham Sreenivasan, Varkey, Anil Lal, and Arjun B Nair. A part of the lyrics goes like this: "You are a spicy and sour item that everyone desires". Sanju Sivram, who recently starred in Krishand's series The Chronicles of the 4.5 Gang, also appears in the special song alongside Rajisha.
Now it remains to be seen whether the song comes organically out of the story and if the plot demands it. Oftentimes, filmmakers forcibly integrate special numbers into their narratives for no purpose other than to titillate the male audience.
Besides Rajisha, Masthishka Maranam stars Vishnu Agasthya, Divya Prabha, Suresh Krishna, Jagadish, Rahul Rajagopal, and Ann Saleem, among others. Produced by Vinayaka Ajith under his namesake banner in association with Krishand Films, the film is set to hit theatres in February this year.
