

Actor and production controller Kannan Pattambi passed away on Sunday night at a private hospital in Kozhikode, where he was undergoing treatment for a kidney-related ailment. He was 62.
Kannan was a long-time presence in Malayalam cinema, contributing both as an actor and as a production professional across several decades. Known for his supporting performances, he appeared in more than 20 films. His acting credits include Pulimurugan, Ananthabhadram, Odiyan, Keerthichakra, Vettam, Crazy Gopalan, Kandahar, Thantra and 12th Man. His final screen appearance is expected in the upcoming Honey Rose-starrer Rachel.
Away from the camera, Kannan was also known for his work in production management. He served as production controller on films directed by several prominent filmmakers, including Major Ravi, Shaji Kailas, and Santosh Sivan.
Born in 1964 in Pattambi, Palakkad district, he was the son of Kuttishankaran and Sathyabhama. He is survived by his family. His elder brother, filmmaker and actor Major Ravi, announced the death through a brief Instagram post late on Sunday.
The funeral will be held at 4 pm on Monday at his family home in Njangattiri, Pattambi. Members of the film fraternity are expected to attend.
