KB Ganesh Kumar has not been a frequent part of films in the recent past primarily due to his work as the Minister for Transport in Kerala. He has only starred in a handful of films since the beginning of this decade. Ganesh Kumar spoke about this recently. Speaking to Manorama News, he said that even some great actors prevented opportunities for him in Malayalam cinema and he felt disappointed about it.

He also mentioned his lack of films alongside Mammootty in the last many years. "He is very affectionate when he meet, but we have not done a film together since The King (1995). I do not know why that is the case. I have not been called to star in his films (since The King)," Ganesh said.

While admitting that he does not know the reason for the lack of such opportunities, the actor-politician said that it could be due to his forthright personality. "I do not try to appease anybody or suck up to anyone in the film industry," he said.

Then, he made some serious accusations against the makers of the 2023 film Bandra, including its director Arun Gopy and lead actor Dileep.

Bandra Movie Review: A sluggish and sloppy potboiler

"I felt even Dileep mistreated me during the film's production, despite our years-long acquaintance," KB Ganesh Kumar said. He went on to add that his role in Bandra was bad, and despite this, the reason for his disappointment is how the makers allegedly removed his combination scenes with Dileep. "Not even Dileep asked why our combination scenes were removed," he said.

Ganesh Kumar added that he wanted to quit cinema after his experience with Bandra, but he changed this decision because of Jeethu Joseph's Neru, starring Mohanlal. Despite liking the story and his character in the film, the actor revealed that he initially thought of dropping an opportunity to star in Neeru because of his commitments as a minister. However, when producer Antony Perumbavoor spoke about this to Mohanlal, the superstar informed Ganesh Kumar about the change in the film's production schedule, thus allowing Ganesh to star in it. The actor's upcoming projects include Thudakkam, marking the debut of Mohanlal's daughter Vismaya.
