Paathirathri, a crime investigative drama starring Navya Nair and Soubin Shahir, will be available for streaming on Zee5 from February 20. The film is directed by Puzhu-fame Ratheena PT and produced by KV Abdul Nazar and Ashiya Nazar under Benzy Productions.
Paathirathri is about two police officers — CPO Hareesh (Soubin) and his superior, Probation SI Jancy Kurian (Navya) — who get into trouble while chasing an unidentified man during their midnight patrol duty. It soon spirals into a career-threatening case, also putting their family relationships and future at risk. The film is written by Shaji Maraad, a policeman himself, who is also one of the co-writers of Soubin’s Ela Veezha Poonchira.
Upon its theatrical release in October last year, Paathirathri was met with mixed reviews and failed to make an impact at the box office. Ann Augustine, Sunny Wayne, Athmiya Rajan, Harisree Ashokan, Indrans and Shabareesh Varma also star in it.
Speaking about the digital premiere, Navya said, “The film examines what happens when officers who are trained to protect are forced to question their own actions. With Zee5 bringing it to audiences, the story now has the reach it deserves, and I believe it will spark strong conversations.”
Soubin added, “Paathirathri is a story that builds tension slowly and then refuses to let go. Streaming on Malayalam Zee5 allows the audience to experience that intensity without interruption. It’s a layered police drama, and I’m excited for viewers across regions to discover it on the platform.”
