After the Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer Khalifa's release on Thursday, director Girish AD's Bethlehem Kudumba Unit hit theatres on Friday. Early reviews suggest that the film is the winner of the box office battle between the two biggies this Onam. Viewers describe this Nivin Pauly-Mamitha Baiju starrer as the "Onam winner". Several viewers appreciate much of the comedy in the film and the chemistry between the lead actors. Several Bethlehem Kudumba Unit reviews describe it as a 'wholesome' family entertainer.
Interestingly, the Nivin Pauly starrer has references to other, more popular films, such as some starring Ajith Kumar and one about Kantara.
The film follows a youngster (Mamitha) who comes home from overseas and reminisces about her past love amidst a wedding ceremony in her neighbourhood. Nivin Pauly portrays the love interest of Mamitha Baiju's character.
The makers category it as a love story that tackles the age gap, as well as themes of second chances and the type of love that is worth the wait. "Love, drama and endless fun," is how distributor AP International describes it.
Bethlehem Kudumba Unit brings Girish AD back together with Mamitha Baiju and Sangeeth Prathap after collaboration on films such as Super Saranya (2022) and Premalu (2024). It also reunites Nivin with Mamitha after 2023's Ramachandra Boss and Co.
The film is written by Girish and Kiran Josey, as well as produced by Dileesh Pothan, Fahadh Faasil, and Syam Pushkaran. It also stars Suresh Krishna, Vinay Forrt , Roshan Shanavas, Shyam Mohan, Shameer Khan, Srinda, Parvathy Ayyappadas, Meenakshy Raveendran, Sreeranjini, Vineeth Viswam, Bindu Panicker, Vettukili Prakash, Thankam Mohan, Manjusree, Jayasankar Karimuttom, Abhiram, and Sanath Sivaraj.
On the technical front, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has composer Vishnu Vijay, cinematographer Ajmal Sabu, editor Akash Joseph Varghese, and production designer Ashik S.
