The teaser of director Ranjith’s new film Law and Order has been released on YouTube. It gives a peek into the film’s gritty crime world, introducing us to five fresh recruits in the police department, headed by a superior officer, played by Thudarum-fame Prakash Varma.
The teaser also briefly features Abhirami, filmmaker VK Prakash, and Bigg Boss-fame Rinosh George. It ends with a tease of Mammootty’s cameo appearance, as the actor reprises the popular character Karikkamuri Shanmughan from Ranjith's 2004 film Black.
The teaser has largely drawn flak from netizens, with comments under the YouTube link calling out Ranjith’s downfall as a director, criticising the shoddy filmmaking and technical work, especially the background score. Interestingly, Bijibal, who has been credited for handling the film’s background music, has commented that the score in the trailer was not composed by him. The makers, however, are yet to respond to this.
Law and Order is scripted by Udaykrishna, marking his first collaboration with Ranjith. Devan, Rithudev Ayyappan, Shanood Ibrahim, Don Michael, Sajal Sudarshan, Nijad Babu Thomas, Shersha Sherif, Amal Jose Antony, Bobby Kurian, Suresh Krishna, Joy Mathew, Anand Manmadhan, Johny Antony, Bheeman Raghu and Nandu star in the film. It has cinematography by Prashanth Raveendran, editing by Manoj Kannoth, and songs composed by Joe Daniel.
