The cast and crew of Patriot, including director Mahesh Narayanan and lead actor Mammootty, have been cautious not to hype up certain aspects of the film too much. For example, the superstar and the director said in multiple conversations that the plot is the real hero of the film, even though it reunites the former with Mohanlal after a long time.
Even as the makers of the film are busy with the promotional efforts for it, composer Sushin Shyam silently dropped a new song from it. Titled 'Manushyan,' the song credits Mammootty and Shakthisree Gopalan as singers. It is worth noting that Mammootty only delivers a monologue in the song and does not actually sing any lines for it. The singing part has been performed by Shakthisree Gopalan. The song has lyrics by Vinayak Sasikumar.
It is interesting that none of the official social media and digital handles directly associated with Patriot shared the song. Only Sushin Shyam shared it. This goes against certain conventions in the Indian film industry, including even Malayalam cinema, which include releasing a promo for the song and announcing the actual release date for it. Sushin cut to the chase by directly dropping the new song from the upcoming film on his YouTube channel.
Patriot is slated for a May 01 release in theatres worldwide. The marquee project has a star-studded ensemble cast, which also includes Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Revathy, Rajiv Menon, Grace Antony, and Darshana Rajendran, among others. According to industry insiders, the film is expected to take up most of the screens in Kerala.
