

The firecracker factory blast in Thrissur has come as a shock to those in Kerala and beyond. The tragic incident has caused severe injuries to about 40 individuals and claimed the lives of 13 people, according to reports. One of the victims is a youngster named Bijeesh Balan, part of director Jude Anthany Joseph's film Thudakkam, starring Vismaya Mohanlal in her acting debut.
Jude took to social media to confirm Bijeesh's passing in the blast and expressed his shock about it. Sharing an RIP poster, Jude wrote, "Heartbreaking. He was part of our movie Thudakkam." Actor Bobby Kurian, who plays a supporting role in the film, also offered his 'heartfelt condolences' to Bijeesh's family and friends.
Earlier, the BJP MP for Thrissur and actor Suresh Gopi visited the site in the Mundathikode village where the firecracker factory blast took place. Speaking to the media, Suresh Gopi said, "This is not a first such incident. It is yet to be assessed as to where things have gone wrong. The Collector has commenced a preliminary investigation into it, and further investigations will be made in the coming days."
The actor-MP also highlighted the importance of being united to come out of this tragic situation. He said that it is important to consider the sentiments of the public when making a decision on the manufacturing of firecrackers for the Thrissur Pooram. For the unversed, the factory was manufacturing firecrackers to be used for the upcoming pooram festival in Thrissur.
Amidst the actor and BJP MP's visit, PM Narendra Modi announced compensation for the victims and their families. Earlier, many leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, expressed their shock and sadness about the incident.
