El Clasico, which brings together Tovino Thomas and Nazriya Nazim for the first time, will be about love and family relationships, said Tovino in a recent interview with Cue Studio. Muhsin Parari directs the film, marking his collaboration with Tovino after Thallumaala.
"Like Thallumaala, this is a film that also explores cousins and family relationships. Nazriya is another major character — it’s half her film and half mine. There are several characters around both of us. Football, romance, marriage… it touches on many aspects," Tovino said.
He added, "Usually, films end on a ‘happily ever after’ note once two people fall in love and get married, but El Clasico goes beyond that and explores what happens after. There hasn’t been a recent film that really delves into the married lives of millennials and 90s kids; this will explore those themes as well."
El Clasico is co-written by Muhsin and Sudani From Nigeria filmmaker Zakariya. It is produced by AVA Productions in association with Maargaa Entertainment and Muhsin’s The Writing Company.
