Earlier this Sunday, the makers of Kattalan, directed by Paul George and starring Antony Varghese in the lead role, dropped a poster for one of its characters. Interestingly, the character wears biker gear and a helmet with the image of Venom, resembling the Tom Hardy character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the caption, the makers mentioned, "Kattalan Character Reveal #20," and an Instagram account with the callmevenom handle. The character is named ØØØ.
The film is directed by Paul George from a screenplay he has written alongside Joby Varghese and Jero Jacob, with dialogues by Unni R. It also stars Sunil, Dushara Vijayan, Kabir Duhan Singh of Marco fame, and Parth Tiwari. Its cast includes Jagadish, Siddique, Hanan Shaah, Hipzter, Anson Paul, Raj Tirandasu, and Shon Joy.
Kattalan is produced by Shareef Muhammed under his Cubes Entertainments banner. Earlier, the banner backed the violent action film Marco, directed by Haneef Adeni and starring Unni Mukundan in the lead role.
On the technical front, it has music by Ravi Basrur, best known for his work on films such as KGF, Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire, and Marco. Ravi Basrur replaced B Ajaneesh Loknath of Kantara fame as the film's composer. It also has cinematography by DOP Renadive and additional DOP Chandru Selvaraj, editing by Shameer Muhammed, and stunts by Action Sandhosh and Kecha Khamphakdee.
Set against an ivory smuggling backdrop, the film is mounted on a massive scale, with stunts scenes involving elephants and shooting locations including Thailand. Kecha Khamphakdee is an internationally renowned stunt director who worked on the Tony Jaa starrer Ong-Bak 2, among other titles.
With production having been complete, the film is slated for a May 14 release in theatres.
