The makers of Lokah are set to drop a surprise announcement on Saturday at 11.11 am. While speculations are rife that it will be regarding the next chapter in the Lokah universe, an official word is still awaited.
Meanwhile, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra continues its blockbuster theatrical run, even as it recently emerged as the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever. The film's worldwide box office figures are close to Rs 270 crores, a new benchmark for Malayalam cinema.
Directed by Arun Dominic, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra has Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead role. Naslen and Sandy also play pivotal roles in the film, which also features cameos from Tovino Thomas and Dulquer Salmaan. The latter has also produced the film under the banner Wayfarer Films.
Lokah, a fantasy universe rooted in local myths and folklore, will have five chapters, as confirmed by the makers. In an earlier conversation with us, co-writer and dramaturg Santhy Balachandran confirmed that the basic idea for all five films has already been completed and will soon be working on the screenplay for the second instalment.
Tovino, who made a brief appearance as Chathan in the first chapter, will headline the next. While the technical team, including cinematographer Nimish Ravi, music director Jakes Bejoy, editor Chaman Chakko, and production designer Banglan, are most likely to be retained, newer additions are expected in the cast.
