Director Dominic Arun's Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra continues its dream run at the box office, breaking one record after another. However, the film has not really impressed every single audience member from the industry in all the aspects of its making. For example, actor Shanthi Krishna recently gave a constructive take on Lokah, which she called an "Okay" film that she liked but did not love to a great extent. Speaking to RED FM Malayalam, she said, "I saw F1 and Lokah recently. I did not find Lokah a wow-inducing film, like everyone else is saying. Second half was a little slow. Overall, it was Okay, I liked it. I cannot say I loved it."
The actor also said that you cannot compare Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra to MCU films. "Because I have seen many such films, maybe I had more expectations," she said. The actor, however, commended Kalyani Priyadarshan's role as the superhero named Chandra. Saying Kalyani was "apt for the role," Shanthi explained, "She did not have much to do because there is an innocence and vulnerability on her face. What is required for that character, she has done very well."
However, the actor who impressed Shanthi Krishna the most is Durga C Vinod, the girl who played Kalyani's younger version in the film's flashback portions. "I felt she was amazing. We could tell that she practices Kalaripayattu from her body language, postures and expressions."
Shanthi Krishna also appreciated the combination of mythology and superhero elements, calling it "a very good concept". Made on a reported budget of about 30 crore and amassing more than 250 crore, Lokah is already on its way to break Thudarum's record of being the highest-grossing Malayalam film in terms of net collection in Kerala. The film continues to do so well at the box office that actor-producer Dulquer Salmaan recently revealed that he would delay its OTT release.
