The Thiruvananthapuram First Class Judicial Magistrate Court has eased bail conditions for Siddique, permitting him to travel abroad while facing a rape case. The order, issued on Tuesday, allows the Malayalam actor to visit the United Arab Emirates from September 19 to 24 and Qatar from October 13 to 18 for professional commitments linked to film projects and related events.
The court also directed the release of Siddique’s passport for the duration of his trips, on the condition that he must return it immediately upon completing the journeys. Siddique had petitioned for permission, stating that his presence was required for shoots and promotional functions overseas.
Siddique is currently out on bail in a case registered by the Museum police in Thiruvananthapuram in August 2024 under Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. The complaint, made by a young actor, alleges that he sexually assaulted her at a hotel in 2016 after luring her with promises of film opportunities. Investigators have submitted digital evidence and the complainant’s confidential statement to the court.
The Supreme Court had earlier imposed restrictions on Siddique’s foreign travel while granting him bail in November 2024. He had previously gone into hiding after his anticipatory bail plea was rejected by the High Court, before approaching the apex court for relief.
On the professional front, Siddique was last seen in the Mohanlal-starrer Hridayapoorvam, directed by Sathyan Anthikad.
