Jakes Bejoy drops OST of Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, shares BTS video
Jakes Bejoy has dropped the much-anticipated Original Soundtrack (OST) of the Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra. Comprising 54 tracks and running for over an hour, the album showcases the composer’s sweeping score, which has been one of the fantasy spectacle’s most celebrated aspects since its theatrical release.
The soundtrack begin with the chart-topping title theme 'World of Lokah', which quickly became a fan favourite ever since Lokah hit theatres on August 28. On Tuesday, Jakes shared a behind-the-scenes video from the recording session of 'Once Upon A Time', a track featuring veteran playback singer Anuradha Sriram. “This piece of music lies at the heart of the film, beautifully brought to life by Anuradha Ma’am, Anila Rajeev, and the incredible choir,” Jakes wrote. He also credited lyricist Harinarayanan BK for creating a unique language to match director Dominic Arun’s vision.
The constructed language, called 'Mozhika', was developed by Harinarayanan by blending five different languages. In an earlier conversation with us, co-writer and dramaturgist Santhy Balachandran recalled the impact of hearing it for the first time: “Harinarayanan combined five languages to form a dialect called Mozhika. Through this, he captured the philosophy of indigenous folk as custodians of wisdom and protectors of nature. The lyrics in the title sequence reflect it beautifully. Hearing that for the first time blew me away.” Mozhika is also featured in the track 'Neeli’s Journey Begins'.
The OST’s release comes as Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra continues its record-breaking theatrical run. Produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films, the film has already grossed more than ₹250 crore worldwide, making it only the second Malayalam film to achieve the feat.
