Dulquer Salmaan's cameo as a character named Charlie in Lokah: Chapter 1 Chandra has been embraced by the audience, much like the rest of the film. However, even Dulquer was hesitant to do a cameo role in the film, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead and produced by Dulquer himself through his banner Wayfarer Films. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Dulquer said that he wants to have an identity that is unlike his production banner, which is why it has a different name without his name attached to it. The actor suggested that he shed his vanity to produce a film with a female heroine as the main character. "I kind of want it (Wayfarer) to be a standalone entity. I am super greedy about movies. I want to have a great filmography of my own, and I want the company also to have a great filmography of its own with or without me. For me, that is more exciting than me producing my own superhero movie."

Dulquer added that he made a case for him to not be a part of Lokah's cast at all. "I fought with them for it. I said 'You guys should be able to make it without me having to do anything.'"

Directed by Dominic Arun from a screenplay by Santhy Balachandran, Lokah has already minted more than 250 crore at the global box office, according to its makers. Reportedly, it is the second in the list of the highest-grossing Malayalam films of all time. The film also stars Naslen, Sandy Master, Chandhu Salimkumar, and Arun Kurian, among others. Interestingly, Dulquer's actor father Mammootty also has a minor voice role in the film. The film portrays Mammootty's character as a powerful figure named Moothon who acts as a guiding force for Kalyani's Chandra.
