Lokah Chapter One: Chandra, featuring Kalyani Priyadarshan, has roared past the Rs 200 crore mark globally on its 13th day on Tuesday. Produced by Dulquer Salmaan under his Wayfarer Films banner, the film has become only the fourth Malayalam flick ever to achieve this feat and the second fastest, behind Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan.

Lokah now sits at number four on the all-time Malayalam worldwide grossers list, trailing Thudarum (Rs 235 crore), Manjummel Boys (Rs 241 crore) and Empuraan (Rs 265 crore). Also starring Naslen alongside Kalyani as the titular lead, the fantasy spectacle also entered the Rs 100 crore domestic club within just 12 days, the seventh Malayalam film to do so. By the end of its 12th day, the film had crossed Rs 195 crore globally, with Rs 64 crore from Kerala and over Rs 38 crore from the rest of India.

Lokah, released theatrically on August 28 for Onam, is written and directed by Dominic Arun with additional screenplay and dramaturgy by actor Santhy Balachandran. The film reimagines one of Kerala’s beloved folklore with a modern, superhero-inspired twist, marking the first chapter in a planned five-part cinematic universe.

The supporting cast includes Chandu Salimkumar, Arun Kurian, Sharafudheen, Nishant Sagar and Vijayaraghavan, with Tamil actor-choreographer Sandy playing the antagonist. On Mammootty’s birthday, the makers confirmed that the veteran actor played the enigmatic character of Moothon in the first instalment, who is poised to appear in the future instalments of the franchise.
