On Wednesday, actor Malavika Mohanan shared a warm and emotional note on social media reflecting on her experience working in Hridayapoorvam, the Onam release that brought Mohanlal and director Sathyan Anthikad together after a decade. Posting alongside photos from the film’s sets with Mohanlal, Malavika spoke about how the project has been one of the most meaningful chapters of her career.
“Thank you for all the love that’s been pouring in the last few days. It’s been blurry in the most beautiful way possible,” she wrote, adding that the support and responses to the film made her realise it had touched hearts.
Malavika expressed deep gratitude to Sathyan for entrusting her with the character of Haritha, calling it a long-cherished dream to collaborate with him. She praised the filmmaker for the way he writes women with “depth, nuance and grace”, noting that his characters “live, breathe and linger long after the story ends.”
Her message to Mohanlal was equally heartfelt, as she recalled his patience, encouragement and warmth on set. “Honestly, I never imagined I’d get the chance to work alongside you in such a meaningful role, and it ended up being one of the most precious experiences of my life,” she wrote, before affectionately adding that she nicknamed him “Pookie Lal”.
Hridayapoorvam, which released on August 28 during the festive season opposite Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, is trailing behind the vampire spectacle at the box office but is still well on course to becoming a bona fide hit. The family drama, centred on a middle-aged man who undergoes a heart transplant and gradually forms an unlikely bond with his donor’s family, has been praised for its warmth and Mohanlal's on-screen chemistry with Sangeeth Prathap, who rose to prominence playing Amal Davis in the 2024 blockbuster Premalu.
