Mammootty Kampany announced on Wednesday that Kalamkaval, featuring Mammootty and Vinayakan, has completed censor formalities and received a U/A 16+ certificate. The update was shared via the production house’s social media handles along with a new poster, and the caption read, "Truth bleeds. Silence breaks 🔥 #Kalamkaval Censored with U/A 16+ Certificate !! In Cinemas Soon."
While the makers are yet to issue a release announcement, unconfirmed reports indicate that the film is likely to reach cinemas on November 27. It marks the directorial debut of Jithin K Jose, who earlier wrote the story for Dulquer Salmaan’s Kurup.
Mammootty is said to play a morally complex lead opposite Vinayakan in Kalamkaval, with Jibin Gopinath also in a key role. The film's screenplay is jointly penned by Jithin and Jishnu Sreekumar.
On the technical front, it has Faisal Ali as the cinematographer, Praveen Prabhakar as the editor, and Mujeeb Majeed as the music director. A formal release date is expected to be announced soon.
