It is the season of rereleases. After the recent re-release of Chotta Mumbai and Ravanaprabhu, another Mohanlal film, albeit one where he plays an important cameo, Summer in Bethlehem is set to hit theatres again. In association with Anjana Talkies and Everyday Films, Kokers Films is bringing Sibi Malayil's 1998 film back into the cinemas once again. "This Diwali, we celebrate cinema, legacy, and new beginnings because some summers never fade," they wrote in the announcement post. Describing it as "a film that defined friendship, love, and the golden era of Malayalam cinema," the distributors revealed that the Summer in Bethlehem rerelease will take place in a 4K remastered format with Dolby Atmos. That said, they are yet to reveal the specific re-release date.

For the uninitiated, Summer in Bethlehem tells the story of best friends and bachelors Ravishankar and Dennis (Jayaram and Suresh Gopi) who live at a farmhouse in a valley. When Ravishankar's family arrives at the farmhouse, his cousin (Manju Warrier) lets him know that one of his cousins loves him. The film follows the adventures of Ravishankar, his friends, and family, taking the audience on a journey full of rolling fun, genuine emotions, and a bit of heartbreak as well. The film is best remembered for its comic stretches, especially those featuring Kalabhavan Mani's character, its music, and that now-iconic Mohanlal cameo.
