Navya Nair and Soubin Shahir's Paathirathri trailer is out, and it's promising enough as a gripping cop story. Navya plays Jancy, a Sub-Inspector, while Soubin essays the role of constable Hareesh. During one of their routine night patrolling rounds, something mysterious occurs in the dark, which could potentially destroy their careers, relationships, and lives. Although it isn't explicitly mentioned in the trailer, it looks like Navya and Soubin play an unhappy couple in the film.

Paathirathri is directed by Ratheena, who made her directorial debut with the Mammootty-Parvathy film Puzhu (2022). Shaji Maraad, a cop himself and one of the writers of Ela Veezha Poonchira, has scripted Paathirathri based on a real incident involving two policemen.

In a recent interview with CE, writer Shaji mentioned that the film was originally conceived with two male leads, before Navya came into the picture. He said, "I initially started writing with two men as the leads, which is how the real incident unfolded. But we later changed one of them to a female police officer, as the dynamics become far more interesting when a woman is placed in a position of power. Ratheena's inputs were also crucial in developing the character, her mental state, mannerisms, etc."

Paathirathri also stars Ann Augustine and Sunny Wayne in crucial roles, with Harisree Ashokan, Achyuth Kumar, Shabareesh Varma, Athmiya, and Indrans part of the supporting cast. It has cinematography by Bramayugam-fame Shehnad Jalal, music by Jakes Bejoy, and editing by Sreejith Sarang. Dr KV Abdul Nazar and Ashiya Nazar are producing the film under the banner of Benzy Productions. The makers are yet to announce the release date.
