Director Tharun Moorthy, who had earlier hinted about helming a sequel to one of his films, announced on Friday the second part of his 2021 film, Operation Java. Prithviraj Sukumaran will headline the new chapter, titled Operation Cambodia, which will also feature the return of the primary cast from the first part, including Balu Varghese, Lukman Avaran, Binu Pappu, Alexander Prasanth, and Irshad Ali.
Operation Java, which marked Tharun's debut, is a thriller centered around some real-life cyber crimes and their investigations. The sequel also seems to be about cyber crimes, but more action-heavy, hinted at by the guns and bullets featured in the title poster.
For the new film, Tharun has retained his Operation Java cinematographer, Faiz Siddik, and music director, Jakes Bejoy. Editing will be handled by Shafeeque VB, who co-edited the director's last film, Thudarum.
Operation Cambodia is produced by Worldwide Films in association with V Cinemas International and Tharun's newly launched banner, The Manifestation Studio.
Before starting work on Operation Cambodia, Tharun will be directing Torpedo, a multistarrer featuring Fahadh Faasil, Naslen, Arjun Das, and Ganapathi. It marks the scripting debut of Tharun's frequent collaborator Binu Pappu, who is also credited as the co-director of Operation Cambodia.
