In yet another coveted honour for director Rahul Sadasivan, Mammootty and the team behind Bramayugam, the folk horror-thriller is all set to be screened at the prestigious Academy Museum’s 'Where the Forest Meets the Sea' film series scheduled to take place in Los Angeles.

According to an announcement, the film's screening will take place on February 12, 2026 where folklore from around the world will be shown to audiences. 'Where the Forest Meets the Sea' film series will start showcasing films from January 10 to February 12. It is to be noted that Bramayugam is the only Indian film to be screened at the series.

Rahul Sadasivan, who has established himself as a versatile filmmaker with specialty in the horror-thriller genre, earned fame through Bhoothakaalam (2022). His horror film with Mammootty, released in 2023 was critically and commercially acclaimed, becoming one of the highest grossing Malayalam films of 2024. Also starring Arjun Ashokan and Sidharth Bharathan in lead roles, the black-and-white film also earned Mammootty his 7th Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his performance as Kodumon Potti. It also bagged the Best Character Actor award (Male) for Sidharth Bharathan, Best Music Director (Score) for Christo Xavier, and Best Makeup Artist for Ronex Xavier.

Earlier this year, the film was screened at the University for the Creative Arts, UK for its excellence in sound design. Set in South Malabar in the 17th century, Bramayugam revolves around a folk singer Thevan (Arjun) who gets caught in a mansion owned by Mammootty's character while escaping slavery. Unbeknownst of the dark secrets that lurks within the walls of the mansion and the identity of Mammootty, Thevan struggles to escape his destiny. Scripted by Rahul Sadasivan, Bramayugam has dialogues penned by award-winning novelist TD Ramakrishnan. Besides Malayalam, the film has also been released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.

Meanwhile, Rahul Sadasivan is enjoying a hattrick victory with his recent film Diés Iraé receiving rave reviews. Headlined by Pranav Mohanlal, the horror film also stars Jibin Gopinath, Jaya Kurup, and Swathi Das Prabhu in key roles.
