Mohanlal’s biography Mukharagam to be released in December

A comprehensive biography of actor Mohanlal, titled Mukharagam, is set for release in December this year. Spanning over 1,000 pages, the book is authored by journalist and writer Bhanuprakhash and will be published by Mathrubhumi Books. The actor shared news of the biography via social media on his birthday, stating that the project represents years of work and anticipation.

The biography documents Mohanlal’s career spanning over four decades, beginning with his debut in the 1978 film Thiranottam, which reportedly released many years later in a single theatre in 2005, and continuing through to his latest performance in Thudarum. The book includes a foreword by legendary Malayalam writer-filmmaker MT Vasudevan Nair.

Drawing on contributions from directors, screenwriters, co-actors, and collaborators, Mukharagam explores key phases of Mohanlal’s life, from his early years in Pathanamthitta to his emergence as a major figure in Indian cinema. It covers over a hundred films, offering behind-the-scenes accounts and commentary on his work in both mainstream and parallel cinema.

Beyond film, the biography also considers his involvement in theatre, particularly in productions such as Karnabharam and Chayamukhi, as well as his personal interests in music, literature, and travel. It further outlines his roles as producer, entrepreneur and more.
