Malayalam music director Shaan Rahman has issued an official statement strongly refuting allegations of financial misconduct related to the UYIRE – Shaan Rahman Live in Concert, held in January. Rahman and his wife, Zaira Shaan, have dismissed the accusations as "false and misleading," asserting that the claims made by show director Niju Raj Abraham are an attempt to manipulate the ongoing legal proceedings.
In their statement, the couple acknowledged facing challenges during the event’s planning, including a dispute with Niju, who has now lodged a complaint against them. They confirmed that the matter is currently under investigation at the Ernakulam South Police Station and stressed that they have maintained full transparency and cooperation with law enforcement. "We remain committed to professionalism, integrity, and the legal process," they stated, urging the public and media to avoid speculation based on a "one-sided narrative."
Shaan’s response follows a fraud case registered against him and his wife by Kochi police after Niju accused them of failing to honour a financial agreement. The complaint alleges that Rahman withheld payments despite collecting over Rs 38 lakh in ticket sales, while Niju’s company, Arora, incurred Rs 34 lakh in production and operational expenses. The music director was granted anticipatory bail on the condition that he appear before investigators, a directive he has yet to fulfil. He also faces additional allegations of threatening the complainant, operating a drone in a restricted area, and causing traffic disruptions.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that mediation efforts are underway, with Shaan’s associates approaching Niju to negotiate a resolution. The complainant has indicated his willingness to withdraw the case if the outstanding payment is settled.
Shaan and Zaira reaffirmed their trust in the judicial system, stating that their legal team is actively handling the matter. "We value the trust placed in us by our audience, team, and partners," they said, promising to share further updates through official channels. The case remains under investigation.
Shaan is best known for his work in films such as Thattathin Marayathu, Thira, Om Shanti Oshana, Jacobinte Swargarajyam and Godha.
