
Actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran has revealed that he had the privilege of showing the trailer of L2: Empuraan to veteran Tamil actor Rajinikanth. Taking to social media on Tuesday, Prithviraj shared a picture of himself with the superstar and expressed his admiration. "The very first person to watch the trailer of #L2E #EMPURAAN I will forever cherish what you said after watching it Sir! This meant the world to me! Fanboy forever! @rajinikanth #OGSuperstar," he wrote.
The much-awaited trailer of L2: Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj, is expected to be released soon. The film, which is the second instalment in the three-part franchise Lucifer, is scheduled to hit cinemas worldwide on March 27. Prithviraj had also teased a major announcement on Monday, stating, "Stay tuned for a landmark announcement! Tomorrow 6pm IST." With fans eagerly awaiting further updates, speculation is rife regarding the nature of this update.
Scripted by Murali Gopy, L2: Empuraan will see Mohanlal reprising his role as Khureshi-Ab'raam/Stephen Nedumbally. The film also marks the return of actors Prithviraj, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier and Indrajith Sukumaran. The cast also features new additions, including Abhimanyu Singh, Game of Thrones actor Jerome Flynn, British actor Andrea Tivadar, French actor Eriq Ebouaney, and Salaar-fame Kaarthikeyaa Dev, among others.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, wrapped up principal photography on Monday. The actor will also return as "Tiger" Muthuvel Pandian in the sequel to Nelson's Jailer, which recently went on floors.
