Sree Gokulam Movies has announced a new devotional film titled Chottanikkara Lakshmikutty on Sunday through their social media handles. The project brings together writer Abhilash Pillai, best known for scripting Malikappuram, and director M Mohanan, who helmed Aravindante Adhithikal. Both Malikappuram and Aravindante Adhithikal had explored themes of faith and devotion, and their collaboration is expected to continue in a similar vein.

In a statement announcing Chottanikkara Lakshmikutty, producer Gokulam Gopalan described the project as “not just a film but an experience,” adding that it could become one of the most significant undertakings of his career. He also expressed gratitude for what he called the blessings of Chottanikkara Amma in shaping the production. Gopalan further stated, “This film, which brings together some of the finest stars from South India, is for all Malayalis who love Amma and the elephant alike, and will soon commence shooting.” Alongside the announcement, the makers released a motion poster featuring illustrations of the deity and an elephant, which strongly suggests that the titular Lakshmikutty could be an elephant, in a nod to the tradition of films such as Bharathan’s 1977 classic Guruvayoor Kesavan.

Screenwriter Abhilash, meanwhile, remarked that Chottanikkara Lakshmikutty brings together two wonders he has cherished since childhood: “The two greatest wonders I have ever loved in this world are Amma, there is no greater miracle on this earth, and the elephant. I have grown up around both, and now the attempt to bring them together on the silver screen has begun. I am joined by my favourite director M Mohanan and Gokulam, the most prestigious production house in Malayalam cinema, a name every filmmaker aspires to associate with. As Gopalan sir said, some films are a calling. I am grateful to all the forces that have led me to write this one. We begin.”

Meanwhile, Sree Gokulam Movies is also backing Jayasurya's much-anticipated horror biggie Kathanar - The Wild Sorcerer, Suresh Gopi's 250th film Ottakkomban and the Dileep-starrer Bha Bha Ba, among other projects in Malayalam. Additionally, they are making their foray into Tamil film production with SJ Suryah's upcoming directorial titled Killer.
