Editor-actor Sangeeth Prathap, best known for his acting role as Amal Davis in the 2024 blockbuster Premalu, has confirmed that editing for Asif Ali's upcoming family drama Sarkeet has been finalised. Sharing the update on social media, Sangeeth described the film as an “emotional, heartwarming journey” and praised lead actors Asif and child artist Orhan for their performances, which he said would leave viewers with “a smile and a happy tear.”

Directed by 1001 Nunakal-fame Thamar KV, Sarkeet is described as an emotional tale of friendship, family, and bonds. The film, which features Divya Prabha as the female lead, was shot entirely in the UAE over 40 days. The supporting cast includes Deepak Parambol, Remya Suresh, Prashanth Alexander, Swathi Das Prabhu, and Zhins Shan. Its cinematography is handled by Aeyaz, with music composed by Govind Vasantha. Produced by Ajith Vinayaka Films, Sarkeet is scheduled for an April 2025 release.

As an actor, Sangeeth will next be seen in Bromance, alongside Arjun Ashokan, Mathew Thomas, and Mahima Nambiar. The film, helmed by Jo & Jo director Arun D Jose, is slated to hit theatres on February 14. He is also set to play a prominent role in Mohanlal's upcoming film Hridayapoorvam, directed by Sathyan Anthikad.

Meanwhile, Asif's latest release Rekhachithram has reportedly emerged as Malayalam cinema's first box-office success of the year, grossing more than Rs 34 crore worldwide in six days, according to its makers. Directed by Jofin T Chacko, the mystery thriller delves into alternate history and features Asif in the role of a police officer.

Up next, the Kishkindha Kaandam actor is set to begin work on Mirage, directed by Jeethu Joseph, alongside Aparna Balamurali. Later this year, he is expected to resume shooting for Rohit VS’s actioner Tiki Taka, which was temporarily halted following an injury he sustained during an action sequence. The actor also has debutant Sethunath Padmakumar's Abhyanthara Kuttavali, currently in its post-production stages, in the pipeline.
