AMMA rejects Kerala film strike, open to talks on remuneration with KFPA

On Monday, the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) has firmly stated that it cannot accept the Kerala Film Producers' Association's (KFPA) decision to launch an industry-wide strike from June 1. However, the actors' organisation has expressed its willingness to engage in discussions regarding the issue of remuneration.

In an emergency meeting convened in Kochi, AMMA emphasised that while it acknowledges the financial concerns raised by producers, it cannot agree to external interference in actors' professional commitments or film production matters.

The meeting, attended by prominent actors including Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Manju Pillai, Basil Joseph, Ansiba, Tovino Thomas, Saikumar, and Vijayaraghavan, was called to deliberate on the pressing issue of actors’ pay scales and the producers’ demands for reductions.

Meanwhile, the KFPA is set to hold its executive meeting later today, with producer Suresh Kumar expected to attend. However, industry sources indicate that prominent producer Antony Perumbavoor will not be present. Additionally, the Kerala Film Chamber is also conducting a separate meeting in Kochi to address the ongoing industry concerns.
