The makers of the Unni Mukundan-starrer Marco have released a deleted scene featuring actor Riyaz Khan, whose portions were removed from the theatrical version. The three-minute sequence is mostly set inside a police station and features an intense fight scene where Riyaz plays a cop engaged in a violent confrontation. The makers stated that the release was in line with their commitment to fans, but they would not take responsibility for any circulating information beyond their control. They reaffirmed their adherence to prevailing rules and regulations.
Unni, one of the co-producers, also addressed the release of the deleted scene on social media, emphasising that they had kept their word regarding Riyaz’s scene. He added that the team was “clear about what could be released” and urged people to avoid spreading misinformation. This update follows the makers' recent clarification on why Marco’s uncut version could not be released on SonyLIV. They cited external complaints to the Ministry of Broadcasting, which led to regulatory restrictions, preventing them from proceeding with the original OTT plan. As a result, only the theatrical version was made available on the platform.
Marco, directed by Haneef Adeni, had a successful theatrical run, grossing Rs 100 crore globally, as claimed by the makers. The film reportedly became the highest-grossing A-rated Malayalam film but faced criticism for its extreme violence, particularly in later portions. It is now available to stream on SonyLIV in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
Unni will next be seen in Vinay Govind's Get-Set Baby, a light-hearted entertainer, slated to hit theatres on February 21.
