Malayalam cinema’s biggest multi-starrer in recent years, tentatively titled MMMN, has resumed production in Kochi, with Nayanthara joining the sets on Sunday. The makers of the film have shared photos of her alongside its lead actor Mammootty. Nayanthara and Mammootty have previously worked together in Thaskara Veeran (2005), Rappakal (2005), Bhaskar the Rascal (2015) and Puthiya Niyamam (2016).
MMMN, directed by Mahesh Narayanan, has already completed two shooting schedules in Sri Lanka, one in Azerbaijan, and another in the UAE. Following the Kochi schedule, production is expected to shift to New Delhi. Reportedly a big-budgeted political thriller, the film brings together veteran actors Mammootty and Mohanlal after a more than decade, along with Fahadh Faasil and Kunchacko Boban in pivotal roles. Its ensemble cast also includes Darshana Rajendran, Revathi, Aattam-fame Zarin Shihab, Rajiv Menon, Renji Panicker, Danish Hussain, Shaheen Siddique, Sanal Aman and Prakash Belawadi.
MMMN is produced by Anto Joseph, with CR Salim and Subhash Manuel serving as the co-producers. The film has cinematography by Manush Nandan, who has worked in Hindi films like Thugs of Hindostan, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
Nayanthara was last seen in the 2023 Tamil film Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food and later in last year's documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, which chronicled her rise to fame. However, the documentary was mired in controversy, with actor Dhanush issuing a legal notice over the alleged unauthorised use of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan footage. The issue escalated when Nayanthara accused Dhanush of pressuring her to remove content, leading to legal demands for compensation.
Meanwhile, Nayanthara’s upcoming slate includes Test and Mannangatti Since 1960 in Tamil and Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups in Kannada. In Malayalam, she will also be seen in Dear Students alongside her Love Action Drama co-star Nivin Pauly.
