On Tuesday, on the occasion of Asif Ali’s birthday, the makers of his upcoming film Sarkeet, directed by 1001 Nunakal-fame Thamar KV, dropped its teaser. It features Asif and child actor Orhan sitting on a rooftop at night, gazing at the sky, with the city lights twinkling in the background. As they watch the stars, the boy asks, "Uncle, what is that?" Asif explains to the child that they were once stars in the sky, just like the ones they are gazing at now. He describes how, each night, these stars look down upon Earth, watching over it; at that moment, parents call out to them, inviting them to become part of their lives. "When the stars hear their call," he continues, they choose the homes they love the most and descend to be "born as children." That, he tells the boy, is how both of them came into this world.
Billed as an emotional tale of friendship, family, and heartfelt bonds, Sarkeet has Divya Prabha as the female lead. Deepak Parambol, Remya Suresh, Prashanth Alexander, Swathi Das Prabhu, Zhins Shan are also part of the cast. Aeyaz is handling the cinematography and music is by Govind Vasantha. Premalu actor Sangeeth Prathap is editing the film, produced by Ajith Vinayaka Films. It has been confirmed as an April release. In a recent interview, Asif shared that Sarkeet is a film for kids, shot completely in the UAE.
Currently enjoying back-to-back successes with Kishkindha Kaandam (2024) and the recently released Rekhachithram, Asif has multiple projects in various stages of production. It includes debutant Sethunath Padmakumar's Abhyanthara Kuttavali, Jeethu Joseph’s Mirage, Rohith VS’ Tiki Taka, a sequel to Thalavan and Prajesh Sen's Houdini - The King of Magic, which wrapped up filming in 2023.
