The other day, we reported about the court finding the first six accused in the actor assault case guilty and sentencing them to a 20-year imprisonment. Earlier today, the actor who endured the incident responded to the court's judgement through social media. The survivor expressed her gratitude for the fact that the six accused have been convicted for their crime, calling it proof that her side of the story is true. "This moment is dedicated to those who chose to call my pain a lie and this case a made-up story. I hope you are at peace with yourselves today!!" the actor wrote. She also denied claims about the prime accused in the case, Pulsar Suni, being her personal driver, calling him someone she did not know before. "He was a random person who happened to be assigned as a driver for a movie I worked on in 2016!! Ironically, I met him only once or twice during that time, and never again, until the day this crime happened!!" the actor added.
The survivor also revealed that she did not find the verdict surprising, although it might come across as the case for many. "As early as 2020, I began to feel that something was not right. Even the prosecution noticed changes in the way the case was being handled, especially when it came to one particular accused," she wrote without mentioning that person's name. The survivor also confirmed news reports about her losing trust in the court, saying that she approached both the High Court and the Supreme Court with a request to take the case away from Judge Honey M Varghese. She revealed that the case and the eight-year-long journey associated with it made her realise that "not every citizen in this country is treated equally before the law." While underscoring that not all courts function thus, she expressed her gratitude to those who supported her during eight "years of pain, tears, and emotional struggle".
She also claimed that some people "are paid to" keep attacking her with "abusive comments and paid narratives" about the actor abduction and assault case.
At the end of the note, the survivor listed out her reasons for her losing faith in the trial court, including the illegal access of the memory card (reportedly involving the footage of the incident), the resignation of public prosecutors, and the accused filing a petition asking for the continuation of the aforesaid judge for the trial case.
