Actor Jayasurya took to social media on Friday to share a heartfelt birthday wish for Sanoop Santhosh, who acted as his son in Philips and the Monkey Pen, besides sharing screen in the upcoming Kathanar: The Wild Sorcerer. Jayasurya praised Sanoop as an "incredible actor" and expressed hope that Kathanar will be a milestone in the youngster's career.
Kathanar is directed by Rojin Thomas, also one of the directors of Philips and the Monkey Pen. The upcoming film, an ambitious fantasy thriller, has been in production for some time now. Produced by Sree Gokulam Movies, Kathanar is said to be one of the most expensive Malayalam films ever.
Debutant R Ramanand has scripted it based on the tales of Kadamattathu Kathanar, a priest believed to have possessed supernatural and magical powers. Jayasurya plays Kathanar, while Anushka Shetty essays another significant role, named Nila. Prabhudheva and Lokah-fame Sandy will also be seen in prominent roles.
Sanoop Santhosh, also noted for his roles in Bhaskar the Rascal, Jo and the Boy, and Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, was last seen in the 2018 film Johny Johny Yes Appa.
Jayasurya's upcoming lineup includes Aadu 3 and a film with Anugraheethan Antony-fame Prince Joy, co-starring Vinayakan. While Aadu 3 is slated for release on March 19, 2026, the makers of the other two films have not yet announced their release plans.
