Actor-director Pradeep Ranganathan's Love Today is a polarising film, having received both praise and criticism for its treatment of love and romance in today's times. While the film grossed over 100 crore at the global box office, it also has its haters, just like how it earned loyal fans. One of those admirers is Bahul Ramesh, known for his work as a scriptwriter and cinematographer on films such as Kishkindha Kaandam and Eko.

In his recent conversation with Galatta Plus, Bahul called it an "innovative and creative" film that is different from "cliched and cheesy" love stories. The writer-cinematographer also said that the film inspired him, attributing it to "that daring call of the director who acted as well (in the film)." Referring to Pradeep, the writer-DOP continued, "He made sure every single second of the movie counted to make something unique and innovative. He did not spare even a second."

Bahul made special note of how Pradeep added montage and VFX in the non-talkie portions of the film, which he argues "add to the humour and the plot". Bahul also mentioned Mani Ratnam's screenplay for Kannathil Muthamittal and Vetri Maaran's script for Aadukalam among his favourite screenplays, alongside Kapoor and Sons, The Prestige, Ugly, and Interstellar.
