Zee5 released the trailer of Kammattam, their first-ever original series in Malayalam, on Friday. Headlined by Sudev Nair, it is an investigative thriller inspired by real incidents. According to the makers, the series dives deep into one of Kerala’s most sensational scams. In the trailer, we see Sudev trying to investigate a routine accident case, which eventually leads to a bigger scam involving local financial institutions. Shan Thulasidharan is directing the series, set to premiere on ZEE5 on September 5.
Sudev plays Circle Inspector of Police Antonio George in the show. As per the makers, the plot follows Antonio George’s investigation into the death of a planter named Samuel Umman (Jeo Baby). Antonio recovers a missing necklace from the scene of an accident, which is believed to have caused Samuel’s death, leading the officer to suspect foul play. “As Antonio digs deeper, what unravels is a chilling web of deceit, silence, and secrets buried far beneath the surface,” according to a press release. Sanjith RS, Sudheesh Sugunanandhan, and Jose Thomas Polackal have co-written the series based on Shihabudeen K's story.
Kammattam also stars Jeo Baby, Vivya Santh, Akhil Kavalayoor, Sreerekha, Arun Sol, Jordy Poojar, Ajai Vasudev, and Jins Bhaskar.
