The teaser of the Sreenath Bhasi-starrer Pongala was launched by the makers on Thursday. The film is written and directed by AB Binil, who made his debut with the 2022 film Vamanan.
The 2-minute 22-second trailer of Pongala opens with a voiceover recalling how, years ago, a storm struck a forgotten shore with devastating force. Lives were lost and beliefs shattered. What follows are glimpses of graphic violence around a harbour, leading to the introduction of Sreenath as a brutal thug. The trailer then cuts to a series of action-heavy sequences centred on his character. A title card then proclaims 'Sreenath Bhasi 2.0'. It concludes with a scene where he points a gun at someone, warning that if the person opposite utters anything idiotic, he will shoot. The film promises to be a gritty and violent action thriller.
Pongala also stars Baburaj, Sampath Ram, Kichu Tellus, Surya Krish, Indrajith Jagajith, Deepu Bose, Sudheer Sukumaran, Murugan Martin, Sohan Seenulal, Sudheer Karamana, Alencier, Sminu Sijo and child actor Sreerang Shine, among others. The film has Jackson Johnson wielding the camera, Ajas Pukkadan handling the cuts and Ranjin Raj composing the music. Presented by Global Pictures Entertainment, it is produced by Deepu Bose and Anil Pillai, with Dona Thomas serving as co-producer.
