Choreographer Sandy Master plays a key role alongside Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen in the upcoming Malayalam film Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra. The other day, the film’s producer, Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films banner, released a poster giving a first look at Sandy’s character in the film. He plays Inspector Nachiyappa Gowda in the superhero film from writer-director Dominic Arun, best known for 2017’s Tovino Thomas starrer Tharangam. Filmmaker Pa Ranjith, who collaborated with the choreographer on films such as Kaala, Sarpatta Parambarai, and Thangalaan, congratulated him on his first Malayalam film release. Ranjith shared the Lokah poster featuring Sandy on X with a set of fire emoticons, appreciating the actor's dapper look in the film. The poster features Sandy clad in a police uniform.
It is worth noting that Lokah does not mark Sandy’s Malayalam debut as an actor. The choreographer has already been announced as part of the cast for the Jayasurya headliner Kathanar - The Wild Sorcerer and the Dileep starrer Bha Bha Bha. While Kathanar may mark Sandy's acting debut in the Malayalam film industry, Lokah is set to be his first film in the language to release theatres.
The film also stars Chandu Salimkumar and Arun Kurian. There is speculation about producer Dulquer's involvement in the film as an actor, alongside Dominic Arun’s Tharangam star Tovino, but the makers are yet to confirm it.
Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra is scheduled for an August 28 release in theatres worldwide. Also releasing on the same day are director Althaf Salim’s Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira, starring Fahadh Faasil, and Mohanlal and Sathyan Anthikad’s Hridayapoorvam. Meanwhile, Sandy is getting plenty of appreciation for his choreography for the songs in Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie. Both ‘Monica’ and ‘Chikitu' have been topping music charts ever since Coolie producer Sun Pictures released the songs on its YouTube channel.
