Malayalam film industry continues to celebrate the good news of Mammootty’s full recovery, with a touching phone conversation between the veteran actor and close friend VK Sreeraman, also an actor. On Tuesday, Sreeraman himself shared the exchange on social media, posting it alongside a nostalgic photograph of the two from their younger days. The heartfelt post quickly gained traction, with fans praising both the warmth of their bond and the positive news it carried.
In the conversation, Mammootty began by asking, “I called you a bit earlier, didn’t I? Were you very busy?” To which Sreeraman replied, “Yes, I was busy with some work. Because of the sound, I didn’t realise the phone was ringing as I was in autorickshaw.” Mammootty then revealed the real reason behind his call. “Ask me why I called…” he prompted. When Sreeraman asked, “What for?”, the actor replied with delight: “I passed the last test.” The line, taken to mean a successful final medical check-up, was met with a characteristically thoughtful response from Sreeraman: “Is that such a big deal? I already knew you would pass.”
Their conversation soon turned philosophical, with Mammootty teasing, “Are you a fortune teller?” and Sreeraman answering, “I walk ahead of time. In darkness and in light, in rain and in sunshine, with neither stick nor umbrella, I keep moving forward.” After a brief pause, Mammootty reflected softly, “I was thinking about the moment when it occurred to me to call you.” The exchange concluded with Sreeraman invoking a prayer: “Ya Fattah. O Almighty Lord, protect us!”
The intimate and poetic conversation, paired with the nostalgic photograph, has touched the hearts of fans who had been eagerly awaiting confirmation of Mammootty’s well-being. Coming close on the heels of celebratory posts from friends and colleagues such as Mohanlal, Anto Joseph, and George Sebastian, it serves as another powerful reminder of the love and reverence surrounding the actor.
With his health restored and industry colleagues brimming with joy, Mammootty is preparing to return to sets soon. His upcoming projects include Kalamkaval with Vinayakan and the much-anticipated Patriot directed by Mahesh Narayanan, in which he shares the screen with Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil and Nayanthara.
