In a heartwarming social media moment, Academy Award-winning composer AR Rahman has started following Malayalam music director Sushin Shyam on Instagram. Sushin shared the news on Monday through an Instagram story, posting a screenshot of Rahman’s follow accompanied by a heartfelt message: “This is honestly my first real fanboy moment. Truly grateful for your kind message, sir.” The story featured Rahman's iconic track 'Roobaroo' from the pathbreaking Hindi film Rang De Basanti, underlining the significance of the interaction for Sushin, who has always cited Rahman as his greatest inspiration.
Sushin, who tied the knot last year and has been on a brief hiatus in films following the releases of Manjummel Boys and Aavesham, made his first foray into independent music in July with the track 'Ray'. The official music video quickly went viral, with Sushin captioning it, “This is Ray. 🛸 My first step into independent music. I don’t know what Ray will mean to you. But for me, it’s a beginning. A piece of who I am.”
Sushin is currently working on the much-anticipated film Balan: The Boy, directed by Chidambaram and scripted by Aavesham filmmaker Jithu Madhavan, which reunites the composer with his Manjummel Boys technical team, adding to the excitement surrounding the project. He is also attached to Thudarum director Tharun Moorthy's next film Torpedo, starring Fahadh Faasil, Naslen, Arjun Das and Ganapathi in key roles.
