Singer Hanan Shaah, best known for the recent chart-topping Malayalam independent track 'Chirapunji', has been confirmed as the latest playback addition to Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen's Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra.
Hanan shared the news on social media on Wednesday, posting a photo with the film’s composer Jakes Bejoy and writing, “LIVING THE DREAM! From looping the Ranam title track in my eighteens to sitting in awe of what he’s created in Thudarum, and now finally getting a chance to sing a song for his upcoming project Lokah by @dqswayfarerfilms, I must say Jakes eattan is one of the kindest people I’ve worked with. Fingers crossed for this one!” This follows the recent announcement that celebrated Sufi singer Jyoti Nooran, of the Nooran Sisters, will also make her Malayalam debut in the film.
Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra is written and directed by Tharangam-fame Dominic Arun, with actor Santhy Balachandran credited for additional screenplay and dramaturgy. Billed as a large-scale fantasy entertainer, the film is produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films and is set for an Onam release.
The cast of Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra also includes Chandu Salimkumar, Arun Kurian, Vijayaraghavan, Raghunath Paleri, Sarath Saba, Nithya Shri, Nishanth Sagar and Tamil actor-choreographer Sandy in his Malayalam debut. The technical crew of the film includes cinematographer Nimish Ravi, editor Chaman Chakko, and National Award-winning production designer Banglan. Action choreography is by Yannick Ben, known for his work in projects like The Family Man, Jawan, Maaveeran and Citadel: Honey Bunny.
Notably, Hanan is also set to make his acting debut with Kattalan, an upcoming actioner headlined by Antony Varghese.
