The ongoing dispute between producer-actor Sandra Thomas and the Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA) took a new turn on Sunday, with Friday Film House co-founder Vijay Babu publicly questioning her eligibility to contest for top posts in the organisation. In a Facebook post, Vijay said Sandra “cannot represent Friday Film House and contest to the posts she is not eligible for,” adding that she may only represent her own firm and stand for the executive committee position, “for which she is anyways contesting.” He wished her “all the very best” for the latter.
Vijay asserted that, to his knowledge, censor certificates are issued to a production firm and not to an individual. He noted that Sandra had represented Friday Film House “for a while” before resigning in 2016, a decision he said was legally notarised by the court after she “took her share or more.” He added, “She has nothing to do with Friday Film House since 10 years.”
Vijay further remarked that the matter was now for the court to decide, suggesting it could be “new information for all of us too if it’s decided otherwise.” The statement comes amid Sandra’s legal challenge to the KFPA’s rejection of her nominations for the posts of president and treasurer. The association cited rules requiring three censor certificates in the candidate’s individual name, a requirement Sandra disputes, alleging selective enforcement.
