Akhila Bhargavan on reunion with Mamitha Baiju: Felt like Premalu never ended

Actor Akhila Bhargavan took to Instagram to share a heartwarming moment with her Premalu co-star Mamitha Baiju. Posting a series of cheerful selfies, the actor wrote, “Time passed, life moved on… but when we met on this ad shoot… it was like Premalu never ended! Just two hearts picking up where they left off...! ❤️”

The duo, who played Karthika and Reenu in the hit 2024 Malayalam rom-com directed by Girish AD, were fan favourites for their effortless chemistry and camaraderie on screen. It is not yet clear what the ad project is, but the reunion has reignited buzz around Premalu 2, which is currently on hold.

Meanwhile, following the gigantic success of Premalu, Mamitha has been a busy bee outside Malayalam cinema, taking on a string of high-profile projects in Tamil. She is set to appear opposite Pradeep Ranganathan in Dude, slated for a Diwali release this year. She also plays a key role in Suriya 46, directed by Venky Atluri. Another major project on her slate is Vijay’s final film Jana Nayagan, scheduled for early 2026. Mamitha is also part of Irandu Vaanam with Vishnu Vishal and a film alongside Dhanush. Back in Malayalam, she will be featured in a yet-to-be-titled film that reunites her with Premalu co-star Sangeeth Prathap, and Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, helmed by her Premalu director Girish AD and headlined by Nivin Pauly.

Akhila was last seen in the 2024 hit mystery thriller Sookshmadarshini, alongside Nazriya Nazim and Basil Joseph.
